At Olam, we’ve tried to create more than just a place to stay — a space that feels warm, unhurried and homely.

Everything here is one house on one island. There is no second property, no chain, no front desk.

The house

Plainly made,
and full of light.

Queen beds, air conditioning, hot water at any hour. Teak window frames and, past every one of them, the green. Pick a filter, or open any picture.

Mundrothuruthu — a cluster of small islands where the Kallada River meets Ashtamudi Lake, in Kollam district. Canals run between the houses the way lanes do elsewhere.

A canoe, and three hours

A guided ride through the canals is the thing people come for. Small local boats, up to about six people, best at sunrise or late afternoon. Kayaking too, in small groups. We’ll help you arrange it with the people who actually do it.
